So, recently there have been a lot of persuade and bluff checks flying around. And as it stands, there's no real system to deal with it. Its been persuade versus persuade and bluff versus bluff ... which in my opinion seems unfair to those who can't take these skills (though all the more better for me ... bahahaha! ... *Cough*).
Another system thats been used is persuade/buff versus will save. But I can't figure out why a rogue would be so damn terrible at seeing through a lie...
And unfortunately, we can't implement Detect Motive into the game.
So here's my idea! A set DC. If you try to persuade or bluff or even intimidate a character, the DC is equal to 11 + that character's level. Meaning, you need to roll 14 persuade/bluff versis a level 3. 21 versus a level 10. On an IC level, it's easily explained. As your character gains experience, they also become more experienced with people, and see through these attempts more easily.
Another possibility might be to gives bonus' and/or penalties based on class, and also a bonus/penalty equal to charisma modifier.
So basically, I want opinions on this. If you vote options 5 or 6, which call for a higher DC (I won't consider a lower DC as it would be -too- low) then post what DC you believe it -should- be.
I won't be voting, though I prefer options 1 and 2 above all else.

I have always disliked it when someone is clearly lieing, and they try to pull out a bluff check. I'm voting number two.

Eh...I don't want to vote just yet. Going to discuss it a bit before I decide. Rar

The NWN discription says that Bluff is the use of misleading actions. That can be lying, moving of hands in a misleading manner ect etc.
Most of the servers I have played/dmed on use Spot or Listen to counter persuade or bluff. Mostly listen to catch out the lies. It also supports the idea that rangers seem to be very very very hard to lie to, Because they can tell someones misleading behaviour. Also the same with rogues perhaps being bad liers, but very good at knowing when someone else is lying.
Persuade generally would be vs a will roll or something. But since that would be unfair, perhaps concentration?
Persuade and Bluff should only be used in situations where it's not bending the extreme beliefs of a characters design. Such as a Rogue with high persuade trying to convince a Cleric that there belief is wrong. In these situations it should be the choice of the player wither or not there character is able to be convinced. Perhaps another example would be a Paladin trying to convince someone that there long time lover and soulmate is infact evil and that they should kill them. Most of the time things embedded into ones heart cannot be changed by a simple skill roll.
That's my two cents anyway.
Going to go with Mistersums on this and wait till more options are discussed. I'm personally not to fond of the given solutions.
