Lodestone Empire (surface): The main empire of the Lodestones is spread underground, but on the surface there exists several cities belonging to the Empire and thus it is considered Lodestone territory aswell, the whole surface region is located on mountains known as the Lodestone mountains, these are great in size and have a rather light brownish colour, these mountains are also home of several dangers, there are roads conecting each dwarven setlement, but off the roads sand beasts lurk about, the surface empire is limited on the west by the Yalmatai river that serves as a boarded between the Lodestones and the Sillilnyme elves. To the south the dried up Tundra known as the Western plains and to the East the great deadly desert known as the Deadlands, very few dare not enter it due to dangers of desidratation, oversized carnivores, the high chances of getting lost with the sand pattern, and the imense heat, tis heat is also felt on the surface cities of the Empire, but the cities were cleverly made on a shade spot offered by the mountain, on a fresh valley, or inside the montain itself, making temperatures confortable. To the north the Empire is limited by Lago Cristal and to the Northeast the Myrawood.
The whole region of the surface empire is very hot, to the north and West the climate sort of tunes down to a more bareble stance but if not in the shade, the hight altitude of the mountains plus the dry area makes the heat powerfull.
but, curious enough, in valleys and in shady areas the climate can actualy be cold.

Surface Historical Information:
The Empire, before the Quain incident, only had one surface construction, the great gate of K'a Khaazk lara Gate, the main entrance to the underground sanctuary of the dwarves. After the powerfull earthquakes that came along with the Ark incident, and after the reconstruction of K'a Khaazk lara Gate, cities were constructed on the surface, K'a Khaazk lara Gate itself became a city on the north, on the shadow of the tallest mountain. the reason why these cities were made out of the dwarven sanctuary was because that underground, the caves where powerfull cities were located caved in, returning the masterpiece of craftsmanship back to its origins, and because the dwarves did not posses the free time to rebuilt these masterpieces (would ordinaraly take centuries) they started populating the surface in an attempt to regain former glory.
The build to the west Middletown, a city dedicated to the trade with humans and elves, to the south Morgandil, a powerfull fortress that serves as a huge heavily guarded stone oupost to monitor all that enter the realm from the south, to the east Luntenk, a religious haven dedicated to help and shelter all of those that survived a dangerous journey through the Deadlands. These cities are cleverly linked together be a series of safe roads, tunels and bridges, that keep travelers and merchants from getting lost in these dangerous mountains.
These surface cities would prove indeed important on the upcomming batle with the elves, specialy the fortress of Morgandil, located inside the mountain their prime location in the cool shade made it bareble for dwarven soldiers to calmly wait upcomming attacks from elves that were near exhaustation from such heat diference. The elves never managed to enter the Lodestone Mountains, but they had other ways to enter their empire, for they has aswell created underground tunels and outposts to attack the dwarves on their home, on their sanctuary. This was the main reason for dwarves to fight back.
On the surface the dwarves atacked the Shadowluren elves and tried to cut them off the war, even if this mission was sucsesfull, the losses were great, and the main military force of the Lodestones died. Sillilnyme was alone on the underground, and would soon leave it after the defending dwarves pushed them back. Still the great king Carrum Kel'grath had fallen, and then, the Lodestones suffered a great blow, for years later Yurial Kel'grath would die and then the Monarchy would die.

Generalized Cultural Information:
The Lodestone kingdom became an Empire with the conquering of the Belowground republic, the other dwarven that lived underground, on the eastern coast. The Belowground republic was a part of K'a Khaazk Lara (Lodestone Empire) before they were given independance, these two cultures lived side by side in harmony, ofcourse the Lodestones would find themselves superior and more disciplined to the Steelfire dwarves of the Belowground republic. After the incident these two countries were divided by a great underground wall, this massive wall destroyed many cities from both countries, years later two tunels would be made to conect them. Year after the Ark of Quain the Lodestone ended up re-conquering the Belowground republic to streaghen the glory of K'a khaazk Lara, curiously, by invading their close neighboors and freinds, K'a khaazk Lara did just the opposite and many look down on this act.
Nowadays, the Lodestone Empire (also known as K'a Khaazk Lara) is habitated by both Steelfires and Lodestones, some humans may also find home here, aswell as Azurites, but Orc blood never and elves, even if in peace with the Lodestone Empire rarely set foot there.
It is said that the Lodestone Empire is home to the greatest smiths in Fenmyr, although not far from the truth, the elves also posses the same skill and love for this art. But it is true that 2 out of each 5 dwarves would know how to smith in some way, be it by profession of because they learned it. Enginers, artisans, crafstman all exist in the empire and with great skill, creators of wonders and amazing breathtaking unerground cities. And due to Lodestone polecy (each dwarven male must spend a 10 year period of life in the clans army (oftenly during 20's 'till 30s)) the Lodestones have a fairly decent army equiped with above average gear and even after these 10 years of dutym a dwarf can chose to stay another 10 years or leave for their own life, so all dwarven male know, to a certain extent, how to wield an axe.
They have powerfull siege weaponry and clever defensive systems spread out their underground tunels.
Governmental Information:
K'a Khaazk Lara was always rulesby Kings, there would be one dominant clan over all the rest and the clan representitive would be the king, Kings are often chosen by bloodline and not due to clan members, a King may be from one clan, and his son from another, and so the oher clan would be the dominant one as soon as the father would pass on. (this has rarely happened but it is possible)
After the Ark of Quain, one of the kings died and the Kingdom at that time was partialy destroyed, and it was the first step of the downfall of the Lodestone kingdom. The war with the elves several hundreds of years later had a smiliuar effect, reducing the population back to record shatering minimuns and also brought the death of a king. very litle years later, the death of another, and then the death of monarchy.
The solution was sought out by the clan that holds a heavy presence in law and justice, a clan that is said to never have fallen to corrupt values, The Silver Fist clan. This solution was to turn the Monarchy to a Coucil, 5 representitives of 5 head clans that hold power over K'a Khaazk Lara. These five new leaders would determine every decision in a matter of votes. The people have no choice in the matter, they may decide what they want as long as it has majority of the votes from within the council.
These 5 elders are:
- Vordûr Khor'azuth, elder dwarven leader of the Iron Forge Family.
- Nfalgar Dorthur, elder dwarven leader of the Silver Fist family.
- Merganoth Alistor, elder dwarven leader of the Red Gold family.
- Nozduk Korgadon, elder dwarven leader of the Doom Hammer family.
and ofcourse,
- Forlan Kel'Grath, Elder dwarven leader of the Shieldsar family.
These masters are the clan leaders of..well.. their clans. and each one of them hold an imense power over a certain area or section of business/religion, even when there was a king many of the towns were governed by clans, and sence the begening of time has the Silver Fist clan ruled the justice of the entire region of K'a Khaazk Lara. But on a curious note, the last member of the group is Forlan Kel'Grath, rightfull heir to the crown sence he is in blood, the son of Carrum Kel'grath, the king that died in the elven wars. Forlan was just forbiden of the crown property due to his age, and nowadays he can he declares that he is the rightfull heir for it and that it should be his, but unfurtunatly, sence the council creation, no others think that way and one can only be king either by being the "last man standing" or by majority of votes... and until now Forlan has failed to atchieve both.
The Coucil has existed for several centuries, now they are more commonly referred to as "the elders" sence they have atchieved an outrages age even for dwarves, and mentioning the rule that the last one standing will have the Lodestone king, the elders are getting impatient. It is more then well known that the elders dislike each other, and asside from Nfalgar Dorthur, all elders misstrust each other. There are even reports of threats and fights between the elders in meetings, some of which are hard to believe.. sence they are really old men. There are also reports of fights between clans as a display of power and many dwarves are fearing that (like what happened when the Lodestones invaded the Belowground republic) a civil war for the crown may take place in a nearby day.
