If looking for informations on Clans and their Elders, use this link to jump right to it, fenmyr.proboards33.com/index.cgi?board=worldinfo&action=display&thread=1155173658&page=1#1155174139Lodestone HistoryBefore the Ark of Quain explosion, the Lodestone Kingdom was probably the most vast empire in Fenmyr, with tunels reaching to each corner of the continent and several hundreds of underground cities, these ofcourse took several thousand years to built, and the it was thanks to the Shieldsar clan (that still exists in Todays Fenmyr) that most of the empire was built, for it was they that even made the great capital known as K’a Khaazk Lara, and they were the ones that made almost all the tunels joining their undergrounf cities. The dwarves were digging themselves away from the surface world. For the Lodestones, several things are of extreme importance, such as Knoledge, their age (the bigger the beard, more people respect him) and ofcourse, their underground sanctuary. The Lodestones believe that the Underground is their home, and that any that try and ocupy it is of great insult and even a reason for war. Sence the existance of the Lodestone Dwarves, their whle kingdom was always based on the leadership of one man, The King. There are several thousand dynasties throughout the years, and the King always hold an enormous power over the kingdom, The dwarves tend to show high levels of respect for their own kin, loyalty and honour is things almost all dwarves have toward their king. Every dwarf is a part of a clan, sometime the dwarves automaticaly enter a clan at birth, and even if the dwarf would leave home, or seak another way of life, or even comit a terrible crime, they would always be a part of the clan. Most of the "Shamefull" dwarves, that comitted a terrible offense and wounded the reputation of a clan, would be either killed or set asside and looked down as an inferior being. Even the king is a part of a clan, but normaly, the kings clan holds extra power and priveledges over other clans, giving them special powers that some dwarves lust for. After the Ark of Quain explosion much of the Lodestone kingdom was destroyed or lost forever, many of the tunels colapsed and cities were destroyed killing thousands of Dwarves, 2 entire clans vanished from the explosion. The explosion happened almost in the middle of the dwarven Empire and so now the cities that didnt crumble are divided in two, West and East. There are rumours of cities around the southern part of the Shadowluren and even on the Desert of Ice, but such are rare to find, even if cities are found underground on that region, they are just ruins of the former empire. There was an encient Mural, the Kaladain, trully great in size. It was said that the Kaladain holded the entire history of the Lodestones, and the mural would forever grow bigger, rich in story. This mural was destroyed during the explosion, and so, one of the Lodestone most important symbols, was destroyed forever and taking with it ages of history. Nowadays, a new Mural is being built and rewritten, again writting down the story of the Lodestones. The Mural is rather small now and its named Kaladûr. The king died in the explosion, but the dynasty continued; and his son, Klose Kel'grath(reigned from 0-356 after the Ark of Quain incident) took place. At his death, he was replaced by Jorian Kel'grath(356-702). At Jorians death, another king of the same dynasty replaced him, a great king, a king that would change the Lodestones, Carrun Kel'grath(702-901). After the death of Carrum, in the war against the elves, his son was too young(1 year old) so his brother took place as King, Yurial Kel'grath(901-1002). Yurial died a premature death, rumours say things like assassination, the only heir to the throne was Forlan Kel'grath, and he was 101 years old at the time, too young for dwarven standards to be King. After some decades with no leadership, this could be described as a weak point for the lodestones, a solution was needed, the clans were begening to fight for possession, and 48 years later (1050) a solution was thought up from the Silver Fist clan, The Council. The Council was an idea that Forlan did not like, for the council would be 5 dwarves, 5 representatives of the 5 most powerfull clan houses. Luckily, the Shieldsar clan (Forlans clan) was one of the most powerfull, and so he was able to still hold some power, but so would Vordûr Khor'azuth of the Iron Forge clan, Nfalgar Dorthur of the Silver Fist clan, Merganoth Alistor of the Red Gold clan and Nozduk Korgadon of the Doom Hammer clan. This council would speak out for the people, and if any major decision would be made, majority of the 5 dwarves (that would be three if you suck at math) would have to vote favouring the decision. And so, for about 400 years, the council still lives on, something that no one would be expecting, now the Council is called the "Dwarven Elders" for the youngest member(Merganoth) their would be an extrodinary 503 years old, and the oldest (Forlan) would be 590. As it was agreed when the council was made, tha last remaining Dwarf of the five, would be the First King of the Second Dynasty (even if briefly). And so, has time goes on, now the Elders are getting unpacient and are starting to do power demonstrations to see who deserves to be the king and to see who gains control of the Dwarven Kingdom once again. Ofcourse, to do this, one of the Elders most have 2 more votes on himself, if he wishes to be king. (Mad's Post)

Kings/Emperors of The Lodestone Kingdom/Empire.
Klose Kel'grath(0-356)-Klose was the first king after the incident, his father died as did so much of what was important for the Lodestones. Many believe Klose did what was most dificult, to pick up a kingdom that was heartbroken. So many died, so much destroyed, so much that shall never be recovered again. Klose tried to pick up what was left of the kingdom, spent his entire reign searching for the lost cities and the Kaladain in an attempt to lift the moral of the dwarves, his whole reign was also marked as the start of the reconstruction of the cities that survived the blast. At his death, the Kingdom was slowly starting to function again.
Jorian Kel'grath(356-702)-The son of Klose, he would continue the search for what was lost in the incident, still searching for the great mural known as the Kaladain - the Symbol of the Lodestones -, but with no luck. Jorian would desist the search and declare the land to be the tomb of their ancestors and that they should forever live in peace, and all that try searching them, would be considered tomb robbers, and judged acordingly. Tunels would be made around the colapsed area (wich would be the area under the Larberious mountains and more), linking the Eastern Kingdom with the Western. Even after the Incident, the dwarven idiologies remained: 3 things are sacred, knoledge, age and their underground sanctuary. When the Elves started to expand underground, Jorian protested loudly and so did the Empire, soon the dwarves would leave their past and concentrate on the surface, on the Repulsion wars that the elves were having so close to their small surface border, their protest would be heard.
Carrum Kel'grath(702-901)-Son of Jorian, and soon to be Historical Hero, with him came much glory, as did much grief. In 822 Carrum has had enough with the Elvish ocupation underground, with a fierce war shout, and with 16 out of 18 clans supporting him, Carrum declared war amongst the Elves to expell them from their sanctuary! The years that followed were of an epic batle, 79 years of batle it was, marked with historical batle victories before the war would end, first they would expell the Elves from the K'a Nurtathkurra Kazkath borders, driving them West closer to their border, they would also be attacked on the south by the Shadowluren, The city of Khram would be the stage for another epic batle, Carrum drove his men south throught the tunnels only he knew about to defend the city, the batle lasted a week before the Shadowluren would retreat south. on the Western border the Sillilnyme elves were preparing another strike, on a city called Hrughtrim, Carrum organized his clanners so that some would be defending the city, while the rest would use the many tunels to block the exit of the elves. 2 days did the defending clans holded, before a mighty charge occured from behind the elves, catching them by suprise, crushing them between two armies. Years after, the dwarves heard of an occupation on the South-western end of their empire, the Elves were joining both armies in an acampment that was not far from the capital K'a Nurtathkurra Kazkath, this would be a batle that would save the dwarves or doom them, Carrum acted quickly, there would be hundreds of tunels conecting K'a Nurtathkurra Kazkath, so he could not protect them all, so he would do something clever, he would destroy the less obvious entrances to the city, making the elves only able to enter through one tunel, a trap. On the other tunels, if the elves would try their luck on digging them, the dwarves placed explosives. They would rather isolate their capital then allowing it to be taken over by the elves. Some days after, the two clans that didn't support the war joined in, Carrum quickly gave them orders to attack the acapment as soon as the elves would reach the city.
The batle was bloody, many died, elves and dwarves, explosions were heard, siege weapons were used in such tight places, the dwarves were outnumbered and yet prevailed. On the retreat, the elves returned to their destroyed acapment, and to their quick death, as the remaing clanners would await them.
Carrum then used the moment and left the undergound, in an attempt to knock off the elves, using the tunels, they reached the surface in Livro's Deep and marched to Monari (the stronghold of the Shadowluren elves at the time) in an attempt to destroy the Shadowluren participation in the war leaving only the Sillilnyme. In a few weeks, the dwarves would reach Monari, but out of their elements, they would be dominated. They crossed Monari, and tried to escape on a once-existing-cave-tunel that was hold in secrecy on the Swamps south of Monari. Carrum fougt back the elves, cursing himself for underestimating them, and he and his clanners tried to reach the swamps.
The batle there, was known as the Kel'grath batle, and it marked an end for the war at 901... and the end of Carrums life. In the middle of the swamp, sorrounded, lost, starving, and weak Carrum gave up in finding a Cave that might not even exist, the only option for Carrum was to face the elves head on, for such heavy casualties that the dwarves suffered on the attack on Monari, they hold little chances, many of the dwarves in the army have never even seen the surface, and the enviroment was harsh and difficult, they were outnumbered 20 to 1, and yet none managed to escape the Swamp alive, many casualties were also suffered from the elves part, but on their turf, it would seem impossible for the dwarves to win this batle. Carrum was lost in a watery grave, as was so many more thousands.
Carrums Warhammer, "Khaazk Duriani" (Dwarves Might), considered the finest dwarven craftsmanship and a family heirloom of the Dynasty, was lost forever in the swamp.
Even with the loss, Carrum did what he wanted, he eliminated Shadowluren from the war due to their heavy casualties, and the Sillilnyme alone did not wish to continue, and so the Dwarven sanctuary was once again restored, even if with the great loss of the boldest and bravest king they have ever heard, facing both elven kingdoms, and winning.
As a pact of peace, the Elves baptized the Dangerous Swamp by the name of Kel'grath swamp, in honour of the said king. As a way to please both ends, the Elvs also agreed to leave the underground for the dwarves if the Dwarves would allow free passage and inspection. And Commerce between the two is now strong.
Yurial Kel'grath(901-1002)- The brother of Carrum, in charge of the defense while his brother was out to finish the war, Yurial was always a decent and kind person, but he did not wish to be the next king, Carrum had a child, Forlan Kel'grath, but the child was born during the conflict with the elves and never had a chance to see his heroic father, Forlan would be denied Kingship obviusly and so Yurial would become king, but his kingship would be brief, as 101 years later, he would die of a mysterious cause, people assumed to be poisoning or assassanation, now the great war hero brothers were both dead, and Forlan, at the age of 102 was too young to be king by dwarven standards. Many are outraged that no search or investigation was made about Yurials death, and this secret has haunted the dynasty until today.
The end of a Monarchy-The dwarves code only allowed a dwarf to be king at the age of 160, when a dwarves beard shows his age and cunning, worthy of respect, so at the age of 102 Forlan remained just the leader of the Shieldsar clan. For 48 years the Dwarven Kingdom was ruled by no one, after the premature death of Yurial so much was left undone, the reconstruction of cities, the ceremony for those lost in batle, the continuation of a trading sociaty, everything stoped. These 48 years, from 1002 to 1050 are known by the dwarves as the Dark Age. Forlan was trying all he could for the dynasty to continue, for him to reach his throne, but old scholars and high priests forbided him. In 1049, the Silver Fist clan (known for its firm justice and equality amongst all) came up with an idea that would please several factions, to create a council.
The Begening of a Council(1050 - current)-The idea was to get 5 leaders of the 5 most influencial clan houses in the realm. Ofcourse the Iron Forge and the Doom Hammer clan heavy weights in the Empire due to their strong armies and their economical power were called, the Red Gold clan was called in for its vast control in almost majority of the towns, the Silver Fist clan was called in due to their code of law and to do what is right, and out of luck, the 5th clan to hold most power over the dwarven Empire was the Shieldsar clan, were their roots go so deep as to say that the shieldsar clan were responsible for the creation of the capital K'a Nurtathkurra Kazkath.
The council argue allot for whats best for the realm, all five of them doing a kings job, and due to constant arguing, decisions some times take weeks to come to a conclusion, once it even toke a month.
Rules of the council is that Majority of the 5 members most agree to the same before any action is taken. If a Member of the coucil should fall, he would not be replaced by the next clanner. If 4 out of 5 members should fall, the last remaining member would be the First King after the death of Yurial. Ale on every meeting. If a member of the council is proven to be Mentaly unstable, he is to be removed from the council if 4 out of 5 members agree on it. If a member of the council wishes to leave the council he most have 5 out of 5 votes on the topic. If all 5 members would fall at the same time, 5 new leaders of the same clans would replace them. If one wishes to be King, 3 votes would be needed on the topic. (even if there are only 2 members left, 3 votes are always needed) If, after what ever option, one of them would be king and die, his son would be king and Monarchy would once again exist in the dwarven Kingdom. If in the future there would be no king again, a council would be made once again.

Underground events from 1050 to Current (the council era)
Th councils priorities seemed abit divided, after so many conflicts in such short time, the council faced several problems that were causing agravation, the Ark of Quain incident destroyed much of the kingdom, and some important towns and trade tunels were still closed, the underground way of trasportation that was once so abundant nowadays seems that the lack of roads inflict a bad trafic problem. After the War with the Elves, towns to the West were also badly damaged, still in need of repair. Hrughtrim (even if not a very important town) was famous for its grand pillars and architectal wonders. Also after the war with the elves, surface trading became seriusly compromised, leaving Pherin the only country that would accept trading, for the elves even if in peace with the dwarves, closed many of the original traderoots. And also, because of this same war, food was starting to be a problem for the dwarves sence during the dark time, looting was more abundant then producing... and with no substancial trading... it would be another problem. Another problem, this would be considered the biggest one by the council, was the reduced number of dwarves the once-great-kingdom had, The Ark of Quain, followed by the war caused several thousands of deaths, causing also the death of some clan houses. The Kingdom of K’a Khaazk Lara was almost drained of people, cities that were once abundant in commerce, now find themsselves almost deserted, even if some towns/tunels have major trafic problems, it is only due to the lack of tunels conecting cities that make all the surviving dwarves take the same tunel. And so, a birth policy was made, to encourage couples to have babies, to boost up the numbers. This was the first major decision of the council, they would also try and re-open the trade lines that crossed the surface towns of K’a Khaazk Lara, or to find another way around the ever so troubling hunger issue, the answer came several months later with the construction of vast underground farms that would grow eateble fungi and weeds, also livestock of cave animals. The interest the council placed on the construction of these farms proved to be incredibly needed due to their baby policy and soon, the Dwarven people would show their content for the council, saying that -even if slow- they worked well together and they only seek out the good for the people, in 1052 the dwarves were happy with the council.
To better explain this part, I shall first say that the underground is divided by 3 types of dwarves, the considered most abundant, disciplined and ancient (Lodestone dwarves). Some Dwarves that won independance some years before the Ark of Quain incidence, these dwarves would be described as loud, roudy, happy and because of the energy blast from the Ark, they also gain other charecteristics, such as being stouter, longer beard, an-even-more-powerfull upper boddy, they are located on the Eastern side of the Larberious colapsed underground area, these dwarves would be the Steelfire dwarves (also known as Loud dwarves by the Lodestones that mock the way the Steelfires speak highly of themselves). There are also Snow Dwarves, that live on the remote southern region, ofcourse very litle know of these, including the Lodestones and the Steelfires, and they are considered a mith, but with a very high Lore check, you know they are there, on the Desert of Ice.
With this said, It is now easier to explain how the Lodestone Kingdom, became an Empire.
With the passing of some years, the council did little else but argue ways to improve their small numbers, a way to show that the K’a Khaazk Lara is still a powerfull presence in Fenmyr, they argued for several months, it is said that the misstrust that the elders currently have of each other was born on these debates. In the meanwhile, some of the towns to the West were begening to be reconstructed, a long and hard process that would take several hundreds of years, and delayed for how long due to the situation of the time. The Council decided on a scheme that would mark again their power, a scheme that would only be done in future years, they agreed, 4 out of 5 (Nfalgar Dorthur of the Silverfist family said no) that they would invade and conquer the land that was once theirs, they would re-conquer the Steelfire kingdom, this was agreed on the year 1064 and they would agree that this plan would only be done as soon as they have a army force again (it would be in the year 1398).
The 5 members of the council became the five elders, the constant arguing set even the most mundane debate into a combat field, threats were even sometimes heard, and it would be obvious that the elders now would have another thing in their mind, to be crownd king of K’a Khaazk Lara, the title that Forlan claimed of being robbed out of. But even in their constant fighting, they would keep their plans of attacking the Belowground Republic (Steelfire Kingdom) secret. And so, on the year 1398, when the army of the Lodestones reached a healthy two thousand, they declared war on the Belowground republic. This new was a shock for everyone, on the surface the god Emperor Ensis was slain two years ago, and when peace was expected for some several hundred years, the dwarves attack their closest relatives. Even if the Belowground republic was smaller, and they had a low level of discipline, they didn't run from no combat and faced their brothers face on. Conecting the Kingdoms or the Lodestones and the Steelfires were two large tunels that were built when the Lodestones still had a King, one of the tunels was on the North and South East of the Larberious colapsed area, and the war of conquer would be decided in who would defend/strike in these tunels.
During this war, two champions on each side were made, and for ever remembered as heros: on the side of the Lodestones, commanding his army into an uncertain victory was Kurtux Verde, proud member of the Iron Forge clan and ranked one of the highest warriors of the realm. On the side of the Steelfires, commandig his few troops to what appeared an impressive victory, was Thuriel the Brute, member of the single house clan that dominates the Belowground Republic, the Firebeards! (name can and should be changed btw), Thuriel was a fierce warrior with an keen eye for batle, a smart unning man that new that he was outnumbered and out classed in this batle.
Kurtux would devide his squadron in two, making one enter each tunel, ofcourse Thuriel would know as much and would set a series of traps along the tunels, they would also make a secret mini tunel on the main one, a place to hide and to travel to the back of the Lodestone army without them knowing it, he would also use Iron Spikes to obligate the Lodestones to take a certain path on the tunel, so they would gain some time, the first encounter was descrived as "Hell" for the Lodestones, for even with higher numbers and better gear, they were on most of the batles stuck, crowded, and not able to move. The first batle on the northen tunel went rather well for the Steelfires, people were gaining trust on Thuriel. On the south, things got much more gory, as the army advanced upwards into their kingdom, the traps would be more effecient, more dangerous, and more abundant (because the main Steelfire army was located on the north), they would go as far as creating a fake cealing on the tunel, and when the a trooper of the army trips a wire, an enormous weight would fall on the Lodestones, fake floors with Spikes, and even a stampede of livestock down the tunel. The Steelfire troops were gaining moral, a chance for victory was possible, the defense on the tunels were holding, and the Lodestones kept failing. But a decisive blow would be made by the Steelfire on the northen tunel. Thuriel risked an army versus army guerrila tactics, but with a trick up his sleeve. Using allot...ALLOT of mirrors, some of wich magical to the power of the sun, were used so that on charging, the Steelfires would have a blinding light behind them, giving them an edge against the well armed Lodestones... and well... dwarves are sensitive to light in dark spaces, the sudden burst of the power of the sun caught the Lodestones yet again by suprise as they were attacked from the front and the back (using the mini tunels) by Steelfires, even in higher number, the Lodestones seemed to be strugling to survive, the Steelfires were stronger, even in a sort of a barbaric fascion. Everything seemed to be going perfect, but the lack of troops on the southern tunel was a problem, because the army found ways to avoid the traps and to reach the towns with litle damage, they would race to the capital. While on the meantime, on the north, Kurtux was fighting all he could, in a matter of time the sun light was not a problem, but it served its porpouse, the Lodestones were losing the fight, and retreated. In the meanwhile, making a silent journey to the capital (killing all of those that would speak up their presence) the secundary army of Kutux had their instructions, and Kurtux hadn't lost the war yet.
As Kurtux returned to the military outpost to treat the wounded and the survivors, Thuriel made a journey with only his wounded to the capital in hope of more reenforcements, he left the station and his troopers and so journeyed back with 50 wounded and several priests.
Thuriel was ambushed and died in his capital. The army was in the city, the southern entrance wasn't well guarded, and so the Lodestones won, taking over a capital and making the army surrender, Kurtux would be a hero and the body of Thuriel is now a memorial in the center of the capital (Hellsbane (name can/should be changed)).
The Bellowground Republic was demolished, and the whol region is now under the 5 elders power, and so making the Lodestone Kingdom into the Lodestone Empire. Many of the dwarves of K’a Khaazk Lara realm were sickened with this war, it was futile, shallow and the only porpouse was to show off the Dwarven power to Fenmyr, the general content about the council faded, and now many dwarves see the group as a bunch a petty man all grasping for power, but the Lodestones are incredibly loyal to whomever is in charge, even if a madman. And so the Evolution of K’a Khaazk Lara is finished, currently the Elders agreed to focous on the reconstruction of the towns, and opening of more underground paths.
On a curious note, on the war Mungar Stoneblade, of the Shieldsar family was a warrior that toke a part on the batle on the northen tunel, alongside Kurtux, but unlike Kurtux he refused to be considered a hero for what was done in that place and he was ashamed of what the council ordered, he left home, to the surface, to a foresty place north of his home known as Myrawood, and currently lives in a village named Vol'althrin.
After the war with the Steelfires, many civilian dwarves are agaisnt the council, saying that they are just a bunch of grumpy old man, but there are quite a large number of people that support the council, saying that even with sacrifice they managed to improve the life underground and they managed to do allot for K’a Khaazk Lara name. Often these people are looked down and ignored, but truth is their are quite allot of them, and in Taverns there are fights (more then often) because of them speaking well towards the council.

K’a Khaazk Lara - Dwarven Empire
The government is run by a group of five Dwarven elders, one for each of the founding families. The city of K'a Nurtathkurra Kazkath (The Lodestone Gates) is the capital, where the Dwarven Elders meet to discuss policy.
Each of the founding families wish to obtain complete power over this dwarven capital and so they are often in constant political batle. These families, are the most important and powerfull of the Lodestone Dwarves, having more then significant power to decided the course of the dwarven fate. The five dwarven elders are:
- Vordûr Khor'azuth, elder dwarven leader of the Iron Forge Family. To many, the Iron Forge is the current dominent family, they have the greatest number of clanners and they are the ones that served and protected the city for as long since the ancient demonic wars, this family is vast and holds many branches across the region. He is a follower of Gorrn.
- Nfalgar Dorthur, elder dwarven leader of the Silver Fist family. This is a benevolent leader and far from being as competitive to control the capital as his brothers, Nfalgar's Clan proceds a life of religion to their God, and they are the Judges that dictate many times the crimes and penalties to criminals. Nfalgar sees this power strugle as pointless for it shall not unite the dwarven kingdom that for so long has been in this iron arm strugle. He would prefer to be the law of the cities but he shall not tolerate any attacks by his brothers in an attempt to toss him off power, and therefor destroying his clan. He is a follower of Kelur.
- Merganoth Alistor, elder dwarven leader of the Red Gold family. This clan is far from being the favorite, but it is a possible contender for the control of the Dwarven region, for so it seems, The Red Gold clan has for long times been known to do outlaw activity to atchieve peace, for Merganoth, the proper way to find inlightenment, is through batle, and the more you batle, the more pure your soul gets. Merganoth does not hold many clanners, and his influence only goes as far as controling one or two cities, but it is well possible he would murder his brothers in order to atchieve power. He is a follower of Algaren.
- Nozduk Korgadon, elder dwarven leader of the Doom Hammer family. this familie goes toe to toe with the Iron Forge family, Nozduk and Vordûr are in constant fighting for power, for they both are the ones that hold most clanners, most domination and most power. And even though these two brothers are now in constant fighting, there was once a time were Nozduk and Vordûr were fighting together, side by side, against any foe that would face the dwarven empire, but diferences made the familie to divide in two, creating the Iron Forge Clan and the Doom Hammer clan, both so simiular and yet in constant batle. By some dwarves opinion, if these two brothers would unite, they would hold power over the dwarven region quicker and without the dreaded Ultimate War between the five clans. He is also a follower of Gorrn.
- Forlan Kel'Grath, Elder dwarven leader of the Shieldsar family. The fifth and final elder is also the oldest of the five, but not to be forgoten, it was with his clan that K’a Khaazk Lara was built, and his clan has hold dominent over it for long time until the city grew in such a size that many hold dominion over it. Currently, it is the Shieldsar clan that holds most power, not because it is more influent or that it has more clanners, but only because its their city to begin with, but due to their small size in comparisson to Vordûr and Nozduk, Forlan is in no position to do anything without total tolerance from his brothers. Right now, all the other brothers except Nfalgar are trying to claim hold over K’a Khaazk Lara and all other clans, becoming the most powerfull. He also a follower of Gorrn.
This iron arm between these families has lasted for over 50 years, and thought no real blood has been spilled, there have been several fights and each clan is getting everyday better equiped and ready far war. Dwarves are starting to fear when the ultimate war for power begins and the real bloodshead take place on their underground kingdom.
