The Kinslayer War
In times before the incident at the Ark of Quain, even before the kingdom of Taeel existed in Fenmyr, the Elves had their own troubles. Once the various races of Elves were all united in one great alliance called the Amalgamation of Edniach, which formally was considered a trade pact with military support relations. The Amalgamation of Edniach was primarily ran by the two largest Elven races, the Sillilnyme and the Shadowluren, who worked closely with one another to develop all the various portions of the pacts. Over the years, the two races began to become sickened by one another and this lead to the dissolving of the military relationship between the two – as well as a rise in creation of war related equipment, supplies, and siege engines. The Wood Elves and the Girthauros could do little but watch, as their numbers weren’t enough to sway the council’s decrees and patch the broken relations.
As the two became further and further split, so did their deity become, the Elven patron deity, Nenya, perished and from her remains came the deities Rhion and Gwangil. Rhion was the patron deity of the Shadowluren Elves, as well as the Wood Elves of Fenmyr, while Gwangil was the patron deity of the Sillilnyme and Girthauros. Rhion inherited from Nenya the portfolios of Good Magic, Magical Items (non-combat related) creation, and Music. It would be Good Magic and Music that would catapult her divine power to the status of a Greater Deity, as both the Shadowluren and the Wood Elves are renown for their song as well as the Sillilnyme’s songstress - all of this in addition to the music used in the other racial cultures of Fenmyr. Gwangil inherited the portfolios of Magical Items (combat related) creation, Soul-Craft, and Elven Written Word and with those became an intermediate divine power.
Eventually the Amalgamation of Edniach fully dissolved and the result was the Kinslayer Wars where the two launched armed offenses against one another for nearly a thousand years. So divided the Elven people became that the Wood Elves fled into isolation and the Girthauros refused to take a side in the war remaining neutral in their cities. The Sillilnyme were the first to imitate the offenses, a large naval battle that resulted in the capture of the southeastern Shadowluren coastline. Over the timeline of the war, the Sillilnyme would capture many portions of the Shadowluren forest – military wise they had the superiority but it would also be their downfall. As the war only ended when the Girthauros were completely destoryed due to the siege engines of Sillilnyme during a campaign to take the city of Athurchel. The war ended and over the years since, the old wounds have scarred over leaving few who even remember the events – the current relationship of the Elves is that of a strong collective that is possibly on the doorstep of another Amalgamation of Edniach. The current block on the road to the path of another Amalgamation of Edniach is the Ilmnfeml Elves.
The Girthauros, a lesser Elven race of primarily grayish skinned Elves skilled in the ways of the Arcane, were a race that dealt with the Elven specialty arte of Soul-Craft. Soul-Craft was the process in which the Girthauros through specific arcane spells were able to transfer a tiny portion of their souls into things in order to make them more sentient, such as a sword. While few of their creations are said to still exist there are some relics of their craft that still lingers in the dead lands among their massive grave. The faithful of Jylia are said to have a number of their ruins marked on unreleased maps held by the Head Librarian.
The Ilmnfeml Elves are the youngest race of Elves in Fenmyr born after the Ark of Quain incident where demonic energies from the newly born and slain Genarml were released throughout Fenmyr. These energies tainted many mothers of Wood Elves, causing a series of still-born and babies with serious birth-defects, though those that survived this ordeal were altered. The children grew up pale skinned and strong, their mentality different then their own parents – often violently different. A handful of their kind around the age of 120 or so developed large black wings and they began to lead their fellow pale-skinned brethren in a revolt against the Wood Elves causing a second Kinslayer War though this one is still occurring. Few Wood Elves remain and they live scattered in the few surviving forests of Fenmyr hunted by the Ilmnfeml. The Shadowluren and the Sillilnyme have both openly pledged to put an end to these demonic Elves and harbor any Wood Elves that enter their realms. This Kinslayer War is known in the Human lands as the Ilmnfemlian Conflict, which they too have openly pledged to assist the Wood Elves, and other elves, battle, this new threat.
