The Deuce's Luck Runs Out
Shock was the expression of many Azan natives tonight as the city of vices was attacked. The sun had just barely gone down, and the night was just getting started in this sleepless city when the northeast corner of the Lucky Deuce Casino was blown open.
The blast occurred from within the legendary casino itself, in the slots section of the first floor. There are twelve casualties of this explosion; five locals, the floor manager on call at the time, Roderick Cortone, two Casino guards who were stationed in this corner, one man who's name and origin has not been commented on by Azan officials, and finally, three legionaries of the 36th who were on their thirty day leave from the Krystinaw front.
There was no evidence of the mundane or even magical nature as to what caused this explosion. There was however a strange box found at the scene, seemingly unharmed by the blast. The box was discovered to have a hand crank, which when spun revealed it to be a jack-in-the-box with horns. Azan has no official comment on the cause at this time, save for their condolences to the families and friends of the deceased, who have also received a sum of coin for their losses.
While Azan has no comment on the cause, the Lucky Deuce has declared this incident a corporate accident, and has closed their doors to conduct repairs.
While there is no evidence to support the claims, rumors have spread like wild fire through Azan's citizens of the possibility of the Cheron Crime Syndicate, located in Ivelfrost, having planned and executed this attack. The Cheron Crime Syndicate is known to be the long time rivals of the Azan Mob, though an attack this direct between the two factions is unheard of. If the claims of the Syndicate's involvement in this incident are learned to be true, it is feared that retribution will be quick - at least in Ivelfrost; Azan citizens at this time would applaud the idea of retribution against the culprits of this vile act, if any are to blame.
As always, this is Felix Percivant, wishing all the best through these troubled times.
