Natali gazes at the fire while lying on her bearskin rug in her new home. After a few minutes she reaches for her journal that she purchased in town. Slowly she opens it to the first page as she runs her hand down the spine to lay the page flat. She gathers her thoughts as she begins to write.
It is my first night in my new home. It is not much, but better than living in the inn. I have been here for a couple of weeks now, and I have been able to look around. I wanted to start over, and I think this may be the perfect place to do so. It looks and smells a lot like home without the reminders of my past. Bjornson invited me to participate in the local tournament. This was a good way to earn gold and to work on my skills so they can improve if I am going to survive here.
I also met a man named Raven. He was very kind and spoke to me for some time. He may not realize but it really made me feel comfortable. Not everyone has been as nice to me. He also has a very interesting creature as a pet. He looks a lot like a stick, but moves and speaks freely. Very strange.
I also met a man named Thaine who is very quiet. He offered me a pair of boots which I did not take. I should have because I think it offended him, which was not my intention.
Tomorrow I look around a bit more and try to become familiar with my new surroundings.

Today was very relaxing. I worked around my camp finishing a few chores, then headed to town to get more supplies. I saw an interesting creature when I was purchasing potions. It was a bear that stood on two legs, was wearing clothes and spoke. These bears must be normal for this area for it did not seem to bother Thaine or the shop keeper. I know they are smart animals but never seen one live as a human. I am sure there are many other new things that I will get to experience in this new land.

I awoke in the middle of the night to find a man walking into my tent. It seems that he is a sailor and his ship left him here. I felt sorry for him because he was wounded and even looked a bit hungry. I offered my tent so he would have a place to sleep, of course I did set the rules, because he seems to think I am just like the tramps you might find in a tavern. I will have to keep my guard up around this man, for he is shifty and I do not think he would not look out for what is best for me.
Once morning came it was a peaceful day, I explored around my camp and picked up some wood from Bifrost to make my food box. The sunsets are amazing here, a nice way to end the day. I think tomorrow I will see if I can find the grove that Bjornson spoke of where there is a small stettlement of other “outlanders”.

I found the grove and they were having a festival of some kind. Thaine was there and I did get to see Raven again. I thought it was going to be another calm day until I heard horns being blown from Bifrost. I am really not sure what is going on here, seems this island has been taken over, and it is now under attack from a wizard. There was a huge battle unlike anything I have ever seen. Bodies covered the ground and smell of death was in the air. It was a familiar feeling in my gut, helplessness. I thought I had overcome my fear and become stronger. But today showed me how small and weak I really am. These creatures here are not like the small packs we would hunt back home, their numbers are great, and the magic they use is indescribable.
The stick that I thought was Raven’s pet, turns out to be the soul of gnome that died. It has somehow been placed inside a wooden body. *Stops writing for a moment as she takes a deep breath remembering the day.* It uses magic, like most do on this island. I am trying to accept this way of life but it is very hard. I was always told magic was not real, and could not be trusted. Everyone here seems to feel differently, and I have seen it work with my own eyes, and some was evil, but most was good.
I had to trust him today, I put my life in his hands, and he did not let me down. There were several occasions when I fell and he was there to help me up. There is something different about him and I am not sure what to think or how feel about it. He seems nice and trustworthly, but he is different than any other man I have seen. I thought that I had seen most everything having treated the numerous wounds my bothers would come home with, but this is different. I wanted to ask more questions but did not want to seem rude. I find him interesting and easy to talk to. *Shakes her head a bit*
I need to stay focused on my goals to start my life, and become independent.

After she watches Raven leave she goes back to her bed picking the sword up and carrying over to the rug; sits and picks up her journal opening it to where she left off. As she looks at the sword she smiles and starts to write.
Today was another nice day. I got the food box built and buried in the ground. I also had the chance to look around a bit more. After dinner I had a surprise guest. Raven stopped by to give me a sword. It was wrapped nicely, but I am not sure why he gave it to me. What are his intentions? I offered him some stew and whiskey. He stayed for awhile and we had the chance to talk, but there is still so much I don’t know about him. I am very curious about his eyes. I have never seen anyone with eyes like that. Strange. I wish I could have gotten a better look, but did not want to stare.
I think I will travel around the island more tomorrow possible make camp for the night and take a few days to think and clear my mind.

I went into town today for supplies. While I was there I stopped by to say hello to Helga and have a mead before going back home. It was not long before this man walked in looking for someone. It seems he had a meeting, business to attend to. Since this person was not there yet he asked to join me. I bought him a mead and we talked for a short time. Very interesting he was. But there was something about his presence. I am not sure how to express what I was feeling, but it was different, strange in fact. It was not long before he had to go. I offered for him to stop by sometimes for a drink or perhaps dinner.
It is nice meeting some people that I am comfortable with. I have extended the invitation to several others to stop by so far Raven is the only one who has. Perhaps I should move my tent closer to Bifrost or perhaps the Grove. This is something I will need to think about.

I hope this is not to long and hard to read. I tried to make it represent her thoughts and memories as they are rushing through her mind. It might be jumbled I just hope it makes sense.
Natali was lying on the bear skin rug as she watched the flames in the fireplace, the memories of the day rush through her head. “Where do I even begin and how do I even find the words that can describe what I have been through, seen and felt today”, she whispers to herself as she pick up her quill and opens her journal to the page where she left off.
Wow, what a day this has been. Never did I imagine what would happen as I walked to Bifrost for supplies. After gathering a few supplies, I went to the Mead Hall and spoke with Helga for a moment then enjoyed a really good meal and of course a mug of mead. As I stepped outside I heard the horns coming from the arena. I could not help but get excited about seeing my friend Bjornson and perhaps the chance to train and earn another nice item.
As I entered I went over to the dwarf that was selling items. He had a very interesting vessel that you burn incents in. Supposedly it would bring back ones soul, if the body had been injured. It sounded like a good investment since that was beyond her healing abilities, besides with everything else that she had seen around here, it might just work. She hand him the gold and put the vessel in her pack, then turn to enter the arena.
As she entered she spotted Bjornson immediately, but then someone his size is hard to miss. She approached him and exchanged greetings. She looked around the room to see all the people that had shown up today. Even the Pherics were here along with Derek. As she looked at him, he gave her a wink, she could not help but smile. It was not long before others came in and the rounds began. She was glad to see Raven was there. She tried to stay focus and watch each event but her mind could not help but wander. When it was her turn she stepped into the gated area and handled each round with pride and dignity. She was very pleased with the way her skills were coming along. After everyone had a chance to fight as individuals, the group fought together, it was a hard and interesting battle but we were victorious. After the prizes where issued, she was on the way out when she passed by Derek. He was lighting a cigar or pipe I can’t remember which, as he congratulated everyone. Her eyes met his for a brief moment as she thanked him, then quickly she left the arena. Her heart was pounding so hard she had to take a moment to catch her breath then she continued to the inn to clean up.
It was nice to be in her old room again and take a warm bath. As she relaxed her mind wandered back to what Thaine had whispered to her as they watched Raven fight. She finished bathing, cleaned her armor, and put on a clean set of clothes. Then proceeded to the Mead Hall for a much needed pint of mead.
Raven was standing outside the Mead Hall, so she walked over to see how he was doing. He told her about his wounded arm, and she offered to take a look at it. They went back to the inn, so she could clean, treat, and bandage it. They got the chance to be alone and talk more. He is the most interesting person she has ever seen. Amazing what he told her, and what she saw. His shoulder was wounded very deep, so she applied two of her homemade ointments, one to keep it from being infected and one to help numb the pain, and then she wrapped clean bandages around his shoulder. As her eyes moved over his body she could not help but touch the scales and scars on his chest. His body had seen so much pain and trauma it was mind boggling. She offered a lotion that she uses to help heal and prevent scars, she was not sure if it would work for him, but it has worked all these years for her. They talked for a few more minutes and then went to the Mead Hall to enjoy a drink.
The others from the arena were already there, she sat with them and enjoyed a drink. She was still having a hard time breathing, so she quickly finished her mead, said her goodbyes and went home to make sure everything was okay. She enjoyed taking walks breathing the cold air; it had a way of calming her soul. She had earned a few more coins at the arena, so she has enough to start looking into getting a companion. Now she has to decide what she wants. She crossed over the bridges and started down the hill when she noticed that something was on fire in front of her tent. It was a creature, she looked around at the tracks in the snow, others seem to have fled, but what killed this one? It had a strange fire, enchanted looking, the body was burned quickly and all that remained was a few ashes. She entered the tent and everything was fine, nothing missing, and there was a note lying on the table. She opened it and quickly scanned over the words. It was him, he had come to see her, and he had taken care of these creatures that were roaming around outside the tent. *She pauses for a moment* What did he want? Will he come again? I enjoyed speaking with him the other day, and found him easy to speak with, but I never imagine that he would stop by. She laid the note back on the table and quickly went outside to see if she could catch him, but he was already gone. She used her foot to mix the ashes in with the snow, when she looked up Raven was standing there.
This was a nice surprise; he had brought his wolf like he said he would. She got him the bottle of lotion and they sat and talked for a few moments. Things became very strange after that. This huge creature floated in the sky, Raven had a burning on his neck around this mark, fire fell from the sky, then she felt Raven touch her, and she held his arm then the next thing she knew they were standing someplace else. How did he do that, what happened. Things became more confusing after that, these dark elves were attacking from everywhere, and then the shouts were heard about defending the emperor. Her instincts took over, she had protected the elder of her village in Vassa, and the Emperor seemed to have the same responsibility as the elder, so it was her duty to protect him as well. They all continued to make their way to the harbor, where they found the Emperor had escaped and he was safe, out of this creatures reach. The small group along with a few of the Emperor’s soldiers moved to higher ground and prepared for battle.
The rest of the night happened so quickly. The battle and then this small creature pauses time and transported them somehow to another place. The next events changed her in ways that she did not understand. It seems that the others have marks on them caused by this creature, and now it was her turn. Her gut told her to kill this creature, but she trusted Raven when he told her it was okay, the creature would not harm her. She heard voices inside her mind asking her questions. Then the creature crawled on her back towards her neck. As it scratched her neck, it told her that she had the ability of strength and healing. When it was done she quickly took the dagger from her boot cut her arm, four healing gems appeared. She gave them to the others to use against this creature. They were returned and the fight continued. The creature ended up fleeing, but during his escape Raven collapsed. Her heart stopped as she check him and saw he was not breathing. She quickly took out the vessel she had purchase from the dwarf before the tournament. Lit it and watch the smoke move around Raven’s body. He started breathing and one of the Pherics came over and help to stabilize him. Isidora took him back to the tower to rest. It was over. The night air was calm, but the smell of death still lingered.
She made her way back home to make sure it survived the fire. The tent was fine, but the hill behind it had been damaged. As she went inside all the emotions and stress of the day rushed upon her. As she washed her face, she broke for a moment. Natali had not cried since the day her parents had died. But these events were too overwhelming. She had to face things now that she never dreamed existed. After a few moments she regained composure and finished cleaning up. Her mind still racing some as she drank her whiskey. What next? How do I deal with these feelings? He …… she passes out from exhaustion.

Today was a really nice day. I spent most of the day with Raven. He is doing better, but still very sore. I wish there was something more I could do for him. I felt bad that I was keeping him awake, but it seemed that he wanted to talk. So I sat on the edge of the bed as he told me about his past. I thought my past was bad. It was all I could do not to cry and hold him close. No one should have to go through what that man has been through. I feel like he and I are becoming very good friends. Something I need.

Today was just horrible. I had a very strange encounter with a disgusting little creature. He stole my journal and trashed my tent. I could not believe the way it looked and smelled. There was dirt and snow tracked everywhere. It looked like he jumped on the tables, my rug and my bed. Everything was knocked over and ruined. And what was that horrid smell. I gathered what personal belongings I could and went to town.
When I got to town, I put my things in my old room at the inn, and went to the Mead Hall. I saw that creature along the way. I wanted to kill him right there. I told him to hand over my journal; he refused until Alisa told him she would buy him a new one. When he handed it over I flipped through the pages there were crude drawings of naked women, spells and notes written about the weather on each pages. I quickly flipped to the back, my note was gone. I glared at him and demanded my note, the single piece of paper I had tucked away in the back of the book. He gave me this horrible grin, and pulled the wadded up piece of paper from his pocket. I snatched it from him and tried to straighten it out, but it was stuck together with a gum like glue. The anger shot through me, it was all I could do not the hit him upside the head with my journal. I walked away quickly before I got myself into trouble.
I went to the general store bought a new journal then headed back to my room at the inn. I just finished coping each of the daily entries I had made, and cleaned up the note the best I could.
I need to go see the tailor and have that dress made. Momma always said a girl needed at least one dress, to put a smile on a man’s face. I never thought I would need one, but he might like to see me in a dress. *shrugs a bit as she writes* I hope there is a place to hide my dagger, and this dress is not too tight. Haveing never worn a dress before I am not sure what to expect.

*takes a deep breath and pulls her journal onto her lap* It has been a busy couple of days. I went to the harbor and talked to Saya-Mian she was very kind and helpful. When we finished talking I had purchased a house and picked out a few things to go inside. It would take a day or two to get everything in so I told her I would be back.
Yesterday I went back to the harbor to see Saya and picked up my key. They had delivered everything for me. It was really nice walking into my home for the first time. It is not much, very small, but perfect for me. After I removed my cloak I saw him standing there drinking brandy. I am sure a smile went across my face. We talked for a bit, and had a drink. Then he agreed to spend my first night in my new home with me. Words can not describe the night we shared. When I awoke this morning he was gone. Was it a dream? Is he real? I am not sure. Time will tell.

It has been about a week since the tournament. He came by and saw me that night, but I have not seen him since. I have been keeping busy around the house tending to the herbs to make sure they are growing as they should, cleaning, and going to the Mead Hall for something to eat. I think tomorrow I shall explore some outside of Bifrost. I have not left town since i moved back except to go to the harbor. I think it is time. I cant sit home and just wait for him to show up. I dont even know when I will see him again.

I bought a horse today, he is beautiful. I am unsure of what to name him, perhaps he will think of something. *traces her fingers across the base of her neck while she writes* He was here last night, again words could never describe what happened. He did share a few personal things with me that only make me think our bond is growing stronger.
*stops and walks over to the mirror and looks at her neck tilting her head back and forth* “Strange, there is nothing there.” *walks back over the her journal and continues to write.*
Sometimes I am unsure if this is real or a dream. He is never here when I wake in the morning, and after last night *stops and shakes her head* Perhaps this is all in my mind. I have to be dreaming these things. I did get a chance to see a few new places with Raven and Thaine, I think I will go back and take a better look around.

I took Thunder out for a ride today; it was very enjoyable until we turned to come back. We ran into a few wolves and what looked to be a werewolf. My arm took several scratches but thankfully Thunder was not hurt. So we quickly returned to Bifrost. I went straight home to wash the wounds and treat them. When I got inside the house he was there waiting. He looked over the wounds and said that the scratches did come from a werewolf because they were wider than what a typical wolf would make, and also it appeared to have a thumb as well. He treated it for me, and then we relaxed while having a drink. He did not stay long, just long enough to share a few stories. Then he is gone again. I am not sure when I will see him again, I never know. I think tomorrow I might go back to that area and scout around a bit to see what I can find, I did not kill the werewolf, and he ran off wounded. I need to make sure there is not a den; they could be harmful to travelers on the road.

I went back out today looking for that werewolf. The cave that I saw had a few bugbears camping in there, but no sign of the wolf. I walked around for several hours, and then headed back to town. I saw a few ogres and then everything went black. Then the darkness cleared there was a werewolf standing in front of me. Then it shifted into an ogre. Makes me wonder if the werewolf I saw the other day was in fact a wolf, or just a creature using magic to disguise themselves.
When I got back to the house I cleaned up the many scratches and wounds that I had, fixed a drink and relaxed by the fire. It was not long till he came by. It was nice to see him again; it had been a few days. We shared stories about our adventures since the last time we saw each other, and then settled down to a nice evening in front of the fire.
I often wonder what the future holds for me. Should I stay here? Will he take me with him? Not even exactly sure what we have between us. I am really not sure of anything at this point. I thought Kvinne was like Vassa, but the only thing they have in common is the snow. I have to give it more time, I cannot go back, and really don’t have the energy to start over again.

Wow, what a night this was. I just got ported back to my house from this incredible place. I wish I had not stepped in the portal so fast, there was still much to see. But anyway. There was a strange storm tonight, I went to see what it was and it was over the fort. I met Thaine, Faeryl, Isidora, and Raven there. We watched as lighting struck one of the ruins and opened a passage way to an underground ruin, or tomb. It was magnificent. It is hard to describe what I saw, but there were two gems in this one room. Two of the others wanted to take them, but after speaking to a guardian we thought it best to leave them alone. Anyway. I did realize something tonight. I am alone. Not sure how I feel about that, but that is the way it is. It is just Thunder and me. Perhaps I will get a dog or cat.
I hope he will be proud that I have been getting out of the house more. I cant wait to share my new adventures with him.
