As the situation from a fortnight ago in Skyros calms down, word reaches the ears of those on Kvinne of what happened there the night of a dinner in honor of the heroes of Gnarm, attended by many of the "Big Wigs" of the region.
At around the ninth hour of night, a blue mist spread across the entire island of Skyros, and surrounded even some of the water around it. As the mist set in, many began to feel drowzy throughout the city. Those affected cleared the streets for rest, while the vast majority of those who were unaffected cleared the streets out of fear of what the mist could be.
As the streets grew quiet, a ferocious roar filled the void. A large, demonic figure was spotted flying over the outskirts of the city, assaulting a guard post there. A wreckless and seemingly foolish move, as the city's defenders moved in and destroyed the demonic threat. The island natives were moved into their homes, and their village on the city outskirts recieved double guard for the night, in the event of further issues.
It was shortly after the coming of the mist and the demon incident that the cruise ship carrying the heroes of Gnarm arrived at the harbor. The heroes were lead from the ship directly to Lord L'Haine's Fest Hall. The city once more grew quiet. A strange thing in Skyros, which is normally just as busy at night as it is during the day. As time passed, it only grew quieter, as those unaffected by the mist began to grow tired naturally.
At around midnight, guards began to run around the city, as if preparing for something. They spared no words for any who tried to ask them what was going on, save that they should get indoors. They had only a short time to make their preparations before demonic figures, similar to the one seen earlier in the night, began to assault various points around the city, as well as guard stations on the outskirts. Airship crews were roused to man their stations and enter the battle, but proved too slow to intercept the largest of the creatures. A creature unlike any of the others. It appeared out of a massive black hole that tore open in the sky above the city. Though it was dark, and foggy, those who witnessed it have come to agree upon its description.
The creature had a massive body, similar in form to a dragon, but without hind legs. Its head however was not draconic, it was flat faced with an elongated head jutting backward. Its wings were massive and bat-like, which made the ground tremble as they beat down on the air. Its body was fleshy, not scaled like a dragon's, yet in some patches the flesh was torn to reveal bones. Its arms were topped with massive talons, able-looking to tear through a stone building. Its tail was long and fat, swinging about carelessly into buildings as it flew. Worse yet, a red mist seemed to escape its breath, and through its flesh at times. A red mist that is rumored to be of the same sort weaponized by Arbon over a century ago for the purpose of genocide.
The creature went straight for the Fest Hall, slamming its tail against the roof a number of times, before finally ripping it open. Once open, the creature flew away, headed northeast of Skyros. Those within the Fest Hall say that the emperor slew there a man casting a spell, and then teleported himself and the heroes of Gnarm away, claiming that it was them the creature was drawn to.
While the city guards proved unable to even harm the massive creature in its short appearance over Skyros, they were far more successful against the demonic attackers throughout the city and its outskirts. The battle raged for two hours, before a number were slain, and others retreated. Skyran casualties were minimal, due to effective counter measures to drive the abyssal creatures back. One airship crew, however, was not so fortunate. The crew of the A.S. Prominance was killed in action when attempting to pursue the massive creature that attacked the Fest Hall before moving northeast. They were knocked down over the island of Dianamos, where the wreckage was discovered the following evening during a search. The Emperor himself was said to have taken a grevious injury on the island of Dianamos, but has since been seen up and about, fully recovered.
