Castian sits crosslegged in the sand at the edges of a loud party, away from everyone else. The party is on Thaine's island, the party-goers consist of his workers, celebrating a good rum harvest. What rum is and what a harvest is, Castian does not know, but his main concern right now is the sand in which he sits in. Many people come up to him and try to get him to join in the festivities, though he gives one and all his innocent, almost child-like smile and an excuse. They leave him alone after a few more moments of pestering, growing bored and wanting more drink. He returns to slowly grabbing a handfull of the sand and letting it fall through his fingers as he stares at it in the light of the roaring fire behind him. He stops his playing and begins to write in the blank book on his lap, chewing on his lower lip as has become his nervous habit in the past two days since he has returned to existance.
It pains me sometimes to know that my earliest memory is of myself waking up naked in the snow. That was strange...I open my eyes and everything is all cold and wet and...cold.. My entire body was numb, and naked. Thats all I remember, nothing before. Every time I try to think about before this my head hurts but...so does my heart. I don't know why. But, because of this I try not to think about it too much which isn't that hard. Everything I look at I don't recognize, everything is new! I've learned alot in these past couple of days! So much that sometimes it all seems a little bit overwhelming, that my head feels all wobbly, but when I start to play with the pretty feathers on my arrows it all starts to feel better. Ooh, my bow and arrow! And rapier and little shield! They are so much fun to play with and if something scares me or tries to hurt me I can use them to make the bad things stop. Oooh, the bad things. Where ever I am at, Kvinne I think Aaron said it was.. there are many many bad things. Bad old men, big red things, smelly people that drag their feet..things I can't even begin to describe! I don't like how these things make me feel, all the fun goes away when they come, so I use use my bow and rapier to make them go away, and everything is fun again.
He stops his writing to take a drink of water from his canteen that was beside him as he looks at the waves lapping against the shore. He watches for a few moments before he grabs another handful of sand and rubs it between his hands. A frown comes across his near constant happy, innocent and naive face. In fact, his expression looks rather grim.
Sand, thats what this is called. Sand. I don't know why but when I play with the sand like this, I get the same feeling I get when I try to remember before when Aaron and Sellina found me. It feels so familiar, so close to me, like I should know why, but I don't. This island in general, it feels so strange and familiar to me, not like the frigid land I woke up in. The heat, the gentle breeze..the coarseness of the sand..why? Is it because I am from a land much more like this? I don't know, I've been told that I suffer from memory-loss, that I might never remember any of this. That makes me a little bit sad, but I've come to know a few people here now, nice people. They help me, teach me and sometimes protect me from bad things. But I know I am different, not like everybody else. Everyone I have met gives me a strange glance when they think that I am not looking or paying attention. They look at me as if I am simple, a bother and a burden. I don't want to make anybody mad and not like me, so tonight after playing an interesting game, which I do love to play games, I was offered a reward. I asked for a home on these islands, so that I may be close to this sand, and this weather that I for some reason so enjoy. I hope it doesn't take too long, I really do hate to be a bother. But I am sleepy now... I should go find some place quiet.
The young man simply known as Castian, who in reality is nothing more then a Memory given life, packs his book away and stands up, glancing over his shoulder at the party still going on, the grim expression still on his face. He spots Aaron in the crowd of people, laughing and having fun. As Castian had stood up, Aaron looks over at him, where Castian smiles as best he can and waves before bounding off at a quick pace. After a bit of looking, the young man finds a place in the sand near the water where he lays down and folds his arms behind his head, looking up at the stars in the night sky. He listens to the sound of the music and people laughing and talking in the distance for a bit, until he falls into a quiet slumber.
