[Given his ranks/affiliations/education level might not make entire sense without a little clarity, this should help clear some things up, I hope:
Aelaruil was the squire of Knight Ithuriel Maernlylth, his elder brother who was attempting to earn the right to join the Holy Order of the White Crest - the two were members of the Order of Saint Nimaliesti for some time before the Glided Throne War. When the war began Aelaruil, was forced to join the Army of the Nibelian Host as a squire, private rank, alongside his brother who was given the rank second lieutenant knight, but both remained part of the Order of Saint Nimaliesti. Whenever they could the two would study the religious rites of Nibel-Heilig, Aelaruil to help his brother and Ithuriel in order to join the Holy Order of the White Crest. Throughout the early parts of the war, Aelaruil was promoted several times but never to an officer rank but remained a squire, with only a few years left or an act of great valor between him and knighthood, to his brother. Though, this all changed when Ithuriel, who was only months away from joining the Holy Order, died from wounds received in battle against the dead risen near Lord General Thaluath Aleanmitore’s camp. Aelaruil for his bravery in the situation and his assistance to his brother was given the title of Knight by the Lord General Aleanmitore, a knight captain in the Order of Saint Nimaliesti, and was given his brother’s military rank in order to continue command of those who were under Ithuriel’s authority. In a series of battles that would follow, several of which against the risen dead, Aelaruil would continue to prove his worth and his faith in Nibel-Heilig until he was approached by a Comes Palatinus named Ryerlora Ousseanddare of the Holy Order of the White Crest. She informed him of their offer to allow him to join, despite not being first born, and she would help train him until he was conformable with his tasks. Until the war’s end, Aelaruil and Ryerlora lead Ithuriel’s men through several more battles as he trained to master his new connection to Nibel-Heilig and understand what was expected of him.]

Jaraera Iahel Maernlylth – Youngest Sister (a religious sister in the Nibel-Heilig sect of Saint Nimaliesti)
Daevain – Aelaruil‘s steed (Magical warhorse that is of good alignment and loyalty, paladin mount)
Birthplace:
The Maernlylth Estate, a sizable portion of land with several buildings and wall, located within the walled city of Nibelheim in the central territories controlled by the Nibelians known as Rufeldar of the nation Senesch in the northwest section of the Toranus continental plate on the pangaea world Siryun in a parallel Material Plane.
Background:
Born into the noble house of Maernlylth four hundred and fifty years ago to the proud knight Cyaeluath and his wife Sieruila, once of the noble house Kennyrghymn, at their estate in Nibelheim. He was raised several years in the typical fashion of noble children with tutors and isolation from the non-nobles until he began to show an interest in the knighthood. Pleased his son was interested in the knighthood Cyaeluath turned in some owed favors and had his son, when he came of proper age, join his elder brother as his squire. As he left to join his brother Ithuriel, whom he never met prior, his mother would give birth to his sister Clasaliora.
After joining his brother Ithuriel at the Order of Saint Nimaliesti’s barracks, he begun the long learning and training to become a squire and someday a knight, it was rough at first until his brother begun to accept him and assist him. Throughout the early years Aelaruil learnt horsemanship and tending, swordsmanship, the proper methods of tending to weaponry and armory, while studying tactics and literature. Along the way he would help his brother Ithuriel study for the Holy Order of the White Crest, a birthright of the elder brother to become a palatinus, though in the process learn many of the rites himself. Though it would not be long until the kin-slaying war known at the Glided Throne War would erupt across Siryun and drag Nibel, and thusly the Maernlylth house, into it. But it would be roughly about this time the youngest member of house Maernlylth would be born, Jaraera who would be destined to join the sisterhood sect of Saint Nimaliesti.
Being both of the Order of Saint Nimaliesti, the two brothers were drafted into the army of the Nibelian Host – the elder brother being entered as a second lieutenant while Aelaruil as a private but remaining squire to his knight brother. Even the father of the two were drafted into the military and was given the rank of colonel due to his superior experience as a knight, the sons were placed into his regiment (3rd Knight Regiment “The Harbingers”). The beginning of the war proved to be little more than additional training and travel for Aelaruil, seemingly only the naval forces were involved in battle on the Shifting Glass Sea the name of inner sea of Siryun. Of course this would not be the case forever, soon the Aurunians, the golden skinned ancient foes of the Nibelians, managed to evade the Nibelian warships and land on the Shardstone coast to begin their invasion.
The Aurunians pushed through the heavily defended shore into the lower end of Sorrowmeld, until being intercepted by the Sentients of Sorrowmeld for a second chance at an ancient battle. Meanwhile The Harbingers marched south from field camps in northern Sorrowmeld to join the battle, this would be Aelaruil’s first taste of real battle and while alongside his brother Ithuriel the two did fairly well, but the Aurunians in the end proved too much and both units of the Nibelians retreated to the northern end of Sorrowmeld. Though with the invaders in pursuit, the withdraw proved dangerous and many men would be lost but the Maernlylth did not lose any faith, eventually the Colonel managed to find a defendable spot and make a stand. The fighting was brutal and the Nibelians nearly lost the battle but bravery of Ithuriel, having battled their commander in hand to hand and winning, won the day, in the end the surviving Aurunians were captured and executed. As result of the fighting Aelaruil was promoted to sergeant awhile his brother was given command of the troop (5th Troop “Heavenly Chargers”).
Additional campaigns would follow against the Aurunians until they were repelled to beyond the shores of Shardstone, victory was the Nibelians until in the eastern lands of Fiseth and Firreen came a new foe, stronger than the last. Aelaruil, by now a sergeant-at-arms, was stationed with his brother’s troop near the edge of the Deadlands of Mai’kash a short distance from the camp of Lord General Thaluath Aleanmitore, who too was setting up to battle the new foes before they could reach Rufeldar. It would not be long until all hell would break loose, as one evening while on patrol of the Deadland border, enemy soldiers raced across the sandy wastelands toward the two camps – Aelaruil and Ithuriel with the others managed to repel the majority while suffering only moderate losses but the dead begun to rise and attack again. Bewildered and caught off guard the casualty rate was heavy and only feeding the number of new foes, as the dead continued to rise up and attack, it was not long before the morale of the Heavenly Chargers was gone and they broke rank to flee. Ithuriel ordered Aelaruil to go and try to escape while he bought time but the younger brother refused to go, and the time to argue was over – they were forced back into a crevice in the one cliff-side to try to bottleneck their foes, Ithuriel would take heavy wounds. Though in the end they managed to survive as the dead were redirected toward Aleanmitore’s camp, knowing if the Lord General were to fall all would be lost on this front, Ithuriel pushed himself despite his wounds and his brother’s requests to stop. Ithuriel would never reach the camp alive, dying midway from his wounds but just before that he told his brother to warn the Lord General of the threat, to burn his brother’s remains so to prevent him being raised and to say the last rights of Nibel-Heilig for him. With a heavy heart Aelaruil did as he was told before rushing off to warn the Lord General.
Having to cut through many of the risen dead, Aelaruil arrived just prior to the majority of the undead host and was successful in warning the Lord General in enough time to muster up a defense. It was hell for Aelaruil, enraged by his brother’s loss but trying to keep the words of Nibel-Heilig in heart, the day proved to be long but most of the Lord General’s men would survive as well as Thaluath himself. For his bravery, dedication to his brother he was awarded the title of knight and in addition granted the rank of second lieutenant in order to attempt to restore morale to the shattered Heavenly Chargers before more of these attacks occurred. Filled with a desire to destroy the source of these undead in order to prevent such from happening to others, Aelaruil began to lead those who would rejoin the unit across the Deadlands in order to reach the enemy controlled Fiseth and Firreen. It was a long perilous journey across the wastes, where numerous undead were battled and eventually, and once across and after being joined by armies of the Nibelian Host, a front was formed to invade the enemy stronghold.
Hordes of undead walled the broken citadel of the Keeper of the Light in Fiseth province, upon the ruins sit hundreds of blade-armored Aurunian Elves that seemed possessed with darkness. The two sides clashed heavily though it was apparent from the start the undead were of greater strength and numbers, Aelaruil’s unit was one of those in the lead and had charged head first into the hordes. His unit suffered heavy losses as their numbers continued to pour from underground caverns to the surface, but it was about this time several regiments of the Hoy Order of the White Crest arrived en force with Comes Palatinus named Ryerlora Ousseanddare as acting commander of this forces present. Ryerlora’s forces were able to save the Heavenly Chargers from complete eradication, thankful and willingly to help Aelaruil remained on the front while most of his surviving men fell to the rear for aid. The two would become fairly close in the next few months of this terrible siege, even joining the ranks of the White Crest after earning his place in a series of valor acts against the enemy and protecting others.
The war’s end came abruptly with the introduction of the Humans of the Nine Clans of Kent aiding the Nibelians against the necromantic controlled Aurunians, lead by members of the banished Tenth Clan of Kent. Aelaruil’s father’s mental state shattered and was confined to bed once he learnt of his eldest son’s death, while the youngest child, Jaraera finally joined the church as a sister of mercy. Aelaruil was given a formal knighting and ceremony when Ryerlora and he returned to Nibelheim, he was finally a fully recognized member of the Holy Order of the White Crest. Tasked with various training exercises and lengthy studies, he found much time to think about a good many things and was hopeful his brother would had been happy about this. But between training, lessons, and chores, Ryerlora and Aelaruil spent much time together, eventually even thinking of marriage.
Following the end of the war, and a rewarding romance with Ryerlora, Aelaruil begun traveling about assisting those he could with the plight of loved ones lost and how to recover from the war but always returning home when he could. Though eventually he was tasked with going out further and further to assist those in need, including traveling to the eastern provinces of Fiseth and Firreen. It was when he was traveling to the eastern provinces he learnt of the death of Ryerlora, who died bravely protecting children from monstrous creatures in Sorrowmeld. Touched by grief and anger, he decided it was best to forgo his patrol of Fiseth and Firreen in order to clear his head of these emotions, pray at the citadel of Nibel-Heilig and to pay last respects to Ryerlora, his beloved. In order to get back he had to once again travel through the Deadlands of Mai’kash, a terrible land of sand and rock, as it separates Nibelheim from the eastern provinces of Fiseth and Firreen, but it would be here that the last communication to home would be received from him.
As he traveled across the barren lands of Mai’kash he ran across a slaver caravan, Humans from the banished 10th clan of Kent had several Nibelians imprisoned in a large metallic cart with several guards upon horseback – obviously outnumbered but knowing if he left to get help and return that they would be gone or even worse dead, Aelaruil sent his messenger dove to Nibelheim to inform them of the situation, request aid, and to ask them to tell his family that he missed and loved them, as he may not make it back home. With the bird sent, he pursued the slavers, shooting one with a heavy crossbow and having it shot from his own hand as he reloaded – reaching melee range quickly he lanced the one with a spear leaving it in the body and drawing a longsword from his horse’s saddle. Slaying another with his blade he managed to reach the fourth horseman and was about to strike but was knocked off his own by a fifth who hit him with a heavy maul sending him to the ground tumbling – in pain Aelaruil stood up and throw the hilt of what remained to the ground, his blade shattered from the impact to the ground, and pulled forth from his back two battleaxes, having been hidden under his cloak, which he quickly set into position to form a doubleaxe. The fourth rider attempted to make a pass in order to slash him across the chest, but Aelaruil swung his doubleaxe to block the blow and to bring it back quickly to slash the ass-end of the horse who threw the rider off, the rider breaking his neck from the fall. The fifth rider jumped off his horse at Aelaruil sending the Nibelian and the Kent Human tumbling on the ground, resorting to fisticuffs to get the other off until Aelaruil managed to slam the broken sword’s hilt, which had some metallic shards still projecting from it, into the attacker’s stomach and kicking him off. The man still managed to find strength to fight, even being able to wield his maul though ineffectively, the Nibelian was able to dodge most of the blows taking only one glancing to the arm as he brought final death to the Human with the edge of his doubleaxe. Exhausted by the combat, the last thing he could do was to unlock the cart holding the slaves, who were thankful but ended up catching the paladin. Upon recovering, he noted he was alone save his horse, as it seems the slaves ran off when he was out cold – finding nothing stolen and no tracks to follow, he decided to find some sort of shelter to wait until the others showed up to avoid being caught in a sandstorm.
As he was searching, he found what appeared to be a little girl’s hairpin, excited he found where they went he quickly charged into a nearby cave assuming they would be inside – but as he entered the cave’s mouth he started to feel woozy and strange until all grew black around him. Coming to, he expressed how much he hated blacking out so much, only to realize he was facing a blue sky and was lying on grass with many strange people walking about – laughing and seemingly having a good time. These people were Humanoid animal beings ranging from bears to wolves, deep down Aelaruil could feel these beings were not evil and radiated a feeling of goodness. After a moment reality sunk on Aelaruil as he quickly realized he went through a portal he looked about in vain for where he entered, finding nothing – he would soon learn he was in the Gate Town called Ecstasy connected to the layer Amoria of the plane Elysium. After obtaining supplies and time to reflect on his situation, he begun to seek a way home, traveling the Outlands though using Ecstasy as a point of origin and a base, though as always he would help those he came across if they would accept his help.
Eventually Aelaruil knew his odds of returning home were small and possibly even nonexistent but he would not simply give up. Going about doing what good he could in the name of Nibel-Heilig had always been his mission since the end of the war, and it would remain so as far as he was concerned, if he manages to find a way home – good, if not he would not fret for Nibel-Heilig would always be with him. So he took upon him the mantle of the Knight-Errant and throughout his journeys found many a gateway to various lands and worlds, not always taking them due to the advice of good friends and people he met along the ways. The final portal he took ended him up on Toril, Faerun to be more specific and the lands of Rashemen to be more accurate. He now finds himself in the lands of the Wychlaran, the Witches of Rashemen, spirits and barbarians – once more a stranger in a strange land, Aelaruil begins to head toward Immilmar to see how he may be of assistance and to learn more of where he is, and deep down knowing for some reason he is being drawn into something…
