It was a cold winter night when Yvarrg was awakened by this wife Fyevarra. She had gone into labor, so he sent for the witches. It was not long before she gave birth to a small baby girl. Her features were soft and gentle, her hair a dark brown, and when the candle light touched her golden brown eyes they seemed to dance. She was truly a beautiful child. They named her Shevarra.
After a few days Shevarra had become very sick. Yvarrg sent for the witches again. As they examined her they sensed something very strange. Yvarrg could hear them whispering but they did not tell him what they found. A few spells were said over the child and she was anointed with a potion. She would be fine, but they wanted to keep a close eye on here to be sure. Being the daughter of the Iron Lord, they did not want to take any chances.
The witches sent someone every day to spend a couple of hours watching Shevarra play and interact with others. This made Fyevarra and Yvarrg very uneasy, but they did not protest the witches’ decision. As Shevarra grew they noticed how small animals seemed to be attracted to her and how much she seemed to enjoy their company.
Just before Shevarra’s ninth birthday she was playing with a few children outside the gates of the citadel under the watchful eyes of the guards. A couple of the boys were making fun of the way she pretended to “talk” to animals. She was very upset, so she ran behind a few of the bushes and hide. It was not long before the guards noticed that she was no longer playing with the other children and started to look for her. She remained hidden in the bushes and started to cry, getting very upset. She hated being different and wished she was an animal instead of a girl. She closed her eyes and focused on that thought. After a few seconds she started feeling strange, when she opened her eyes and looked around, things looked a bit different. She had shifted herself into a tiny badger. Excited and overjoyed she ran from the bushes and through the town. The feeling of freedom did not last long. When she ran around the corner and bumped into one of the witches that had been send to find her. She instantly shifted back to her human form. As she looked around she saw the children watching, and heard them laughing. It was not long before news spread through Immilar that the Iron lords’ daughter was a “freak.”
On the night of Shevarra’s tenth birthday, the witches came to the house to get her. It was Rashemi Law that when children turn ten they would be examined for magical ability. She already had proven she was in touch with the arcane. She went reluctantly and studied with the witches. The arcane was indeed strong within her, but in a different way that the other witches.
About six months later two of her teachers came to her in the middle of the night. It seems her parent’s caravan was attacked by Thayan assassins, no one survived. Her parents were loved by the Rashemi people and were very wealthy. Shevarra was to be taken care of.
After that night Shevarra changed, and she was not as obedient as before. She was not allowed to shift into animals form and was to focus her abilities on spells and healing potions. Shevarra would sneak out at night to shift and run through the woods. She loved animals and the gift she was given. One night when she was fifteen she left and never came back. They searched for her but she was never found. A few nights later a group of Wolf Berserkers were patrolling the High Country. They came across Shevarra, who was almost dead. It looked like she had been attacked by hunters. They brought her to the Urling so that Lady Yhelbruna could treat her wounds.
Shevarra spent the next few months with Lady Yhelbruna under her care and guidance. It was decided that Shevarra would not continue under the teachings to become a hathran, but instead be allowed to grow her ability with nature. She was given her inheritance from her parents and was allowed to live in the Urling with the others. Lady Yhelbruna gave Shevarra an enchanted headband as a symbol of their agreement but it can never be removed. It would change into a collar when she shifted so that hunters and other would not think she was just a regular animal. Hopefully this would keep her from being hunted again.
A few years have passed and Shevarra has lived in peace with the witches. She has her daily routine of adventuring and speaking with the animals. Most people of Rashemen find her odd, but they are polite and most of the time respectful. Many fear her magic and think she is unstable since she did not take the oath of the Hathran.
