It is far from completed and will be updated as time goes by.
General order of things go from: Number (big/bold), Small Letter (bold), Small Roman Numeral (italics), and repeats from Number to Roman Numeral without any emphasis like bold/italics/size.
1. What/who is Nibel?
a. Nibel is actually two different things:
i. Nibel is the name of the patron deity, god of the Mist, of the Mist Elves who worship him as three different aspects.
1. Heilig is the holy aspect, a blessed form that guards and protects the Nibelians from various evils that would threaten the safety of the lands.
2. Ruhe is the neutral aspect, a form that takes on the role of mediator in an attempt to keep the power balance between Heilig and Teufel even.
3. Teufel is the darker aspect, a form of power that radiates darkness when it hunts out foes of the Nibelians in the mist-covered lands.
ii. The name given to the living mist that inhabits the Toranus subcontinent of the world of Siryun.
2. What/who are the Nibelians?
a. The Nibelians are a race of Elves that reside in Nibel, the mist, and are rulers of Toranus. They rule from their citadel of Nibelheim in Rufeldar territory of the nation Senesch.
i. The Nibelians are also known as the Mist Elves, due to their residency in the mist-covered lands.
1. Tall and imposing, the Nibelians are not a people to be pushed to the side without repercussions. Smoke touched ivory describes their skin as their hair a silvery-white, colors to blend them into the mist, to keep them safe and to aid their craft. Intricate and beautiful clothing of grays, ashes, silvers, and similar mist colors adorn them with only a modest sampling of jewelry of silver and steels to accent. Graceful but purposeful of step, the Mist Elves know the roads they travel and are always at home in places of low light, their otherworldly eyes – similar to that of a feline but in dark hues of colors of blue to red – prove overly capable in these conditions. A haunting and beautiful people perhaps only marred by one bodily feature, several of their teeth are sharply fanged hinting vaguely at a darker time in their people’s past, and an all too well known feature of the feral kin.
ii. Worshippers of the three-aspect deity Nibel.
3. What sets the Nibelian apart from other Elven Races?
a. Physically they are as mentioned above but to clarify:
i. They tower over the majority of other Siryun Elven races in terms of height, being on average six feet, for example the much smaller Aurunians Elves stand only about five-feet four inches at best.
ii. They are the palest in coloration of all the Elves.
iii. And the only Elven race to possess Red eyes on Siryun.
b. There are also some internal differences as well:
i. They possess two hearts, one to work the veins and the other the arteries.
1. The two hearts are set closely together and hug one another with the vein-heart in front-right and the artery-heart in the behind-left.
a. If one heart stops pumping, the other will take over both roles.
b. The two hearts seems a carryover from their primal hunting days.
ii. The fact their lungs are noticeably deeper.
1. It is a carryover from the ancient days when the Nibelians were a race of hunters.
2. These larger lungs enable them to obtain much more air in when taking a breath and enable the holding of a breath for a brief time longer than the average Elf.
iii. The larger than usual Adrenal medulla portion of the Adrenal gland.
1. As per most of the unusual parts of the anatomy of the Nibelians, this dates back to their primal days.
2. Due to the larger size, it produces larger amounts of adrenaline which is used during the fight-flight response.
a. This was very useful in ancient times when attempting to take down creatures much larger than themselves, this extra burst of power likely saved many an ancient Nibelian.
b. It has lingered till present day for unknown reasons, but it is a favorite practice of the Teufelian Knights to induce a rush as they charge into battle.
iv. The lack of a gallbladder.
1. It is due to the larger liver that the Nibelians have, the bile produced and contained within is far more potent than in other races of Elves and do not need the assistance of a gallbladder in order to properly digest food, especially animal fats.
v. The lack of a vermiform appendix.
1. The Nibelians, while omnivores, tend to lean more heavily toward meat since ancient times and have never focused into hard to digest plant-life and thusly lack the need for an organ like this. ((going off the belief that the appendix was once part of the cecum and was used to host bacteria that was used to digest cellulose in plants for energy))
4. What are the previously mentioned Feral Kin?
a. The Feral Kin are those of the Nibelian who have failed the coming of age test and have reverted to a more primal state which hunts anyone traveling the mist as food.
i. The Test is when a young Nibelian is sent into Nibel alone to obtain a Nibel Lotus from one of the healing water pools scattered about the landscape and return safely.
1. If one is unable to return home due to becoming lost they will begin to mentally break down due to their growing stress, if left unchecked for long enough periods they will become feral in order to survive.
2. Up until the point of becoming feral the condition is treatable and fully reversible, but if they have crossed the threshold into feral-dom it is too late.
3. Adults are nearly immune to this condition, save extreme cases of mental stress, but the young have not developed the proper resistances and that is part of the test to do so.
ii. The Feral Kin are in fact what the Nibelian were in ancient times, before the coming of the ways of law and walls, and is in part why they are so feared, for it is disturbing to see what could had been for all.
iii. Feral Kin look nearly the same as a regular Nibelian Elf with only a few key differences:
1. Their eyes give off a luminescence while in the mist but the eyes’ actual coloration is that of pale beige. There appears to be no noticeable pupil but one exists if looked into deeply enough – it is the size of a pin-head.
2. The very tips of their ears become split and ragged, forming a double tip that appears chewed upon but often hidden under their hair or a ragged hood.
3. Their teeth are extremely sharp and are capable of ripping through moderately thick leather in addition to flesh and cartilage.
4. Finally their final noticeable feature is the fact the skin about their hands is nearly black but fades into the normal smoky ivory at about the point of the elbow.
5. While not a physical difference, they have a great fear of fire.
iv. They are pack hunters and will often work much like wolves, appointing an alpha and the likes.
1. Feral Kin will eat anything that is lives and often will attempt to prey on other Nibelians.
2. Using various group based tactics to great effect.
3. Have a specific hierarchy system.
v. Despite most taking the path of a pack member, the occasional one will not and are seen as the more deadly threat.
1. The rare individual hunter develops a deadlier set of skills that do not rely on group tactics such as distraction.
2. As result they are physically stronger and faster than those of a pack.
3. It is said they are larger and have begun to redevelop sapience.
a. It is theorized many were once alphas that lost to a younger Feral but did not go out to die and instead grew stronger.
