Joril sat at the organ, playing a solo that echoed throughout the dank halls of his Master's keep. His music alone kept the keep from total silence. His Master sat in the corner of his study. The Master's head moved slowly with the music while sorting through the many papers scattered across the floor. Maps of starts, parchments detailing ancient prophecies in tongues no longer spoken.
"Do you think your master mad, Joril?"
Joril stopped playing slowly and turned in his seat, looking over at his Master.
"Was it not you who said I waste my time?" spoke the Master.
Joril spoke plainly in response, "I have confidence you would not have persisted this long, my lord, if you were not onto something. I just fail to understand what."
"Come then, see rather than hear..." spoke the Master as he rose up, grabbing a map in hand. He thrusted the door to the balcony open, and walked outside, followed soon after by Joril, who'd folded his hands behind his back while watching his Master closely.
"Perhaps I am mad to have waited so long." The Master moved towards an arbalest on the balcony and slowly loaded it. The moon was rising in the sky, becoming visible as the sun's light diminished into the west. "But the alignment is at last in place. We wait no longer, Joril."
Joril watched his Master curiously, standing perfectly still with his hands folded behind his back. "As you say, my lord."
A sudden darkness came over the sky as an object appeared in the sky, a sphere of great size floating in the space beyond Toril. It blocked Lathandar's glow from reflecting off of Selune, effectively blacking out the moon's light. "We seize destiny by the throat, Joril." The Master pulled the arbalest's trigger, firing towards the nearby cliff.
Joril tilted his head as he watched the bolt fly towards nothing. Just as the siege bolt began to curve downward, the cliff shattered. Dust and rocks flew around as fire spewed into the sky, illuminating the form of a great red dragon coming up through the cliff it had crashed into blindly. Just then, the bolt slammed into its chest cavity, which appeared previously wounded and fragile. The dragon's one eye flashed, the other apparently having been taken from it in whatever battle it was fleeing. It released a mighty roar, and crashed into the ground, skidding towards the keep's wall, coming to a stop jsut before it, beneath the balcony.
Joril's eyes widened as falling embers still illuminated the scene below. The Master turned to him. "And we'll take it for all it's worth. We begin in the morning, Joril." The Master walked by Joril back into the study, and continued down the dark hallway.
"Yes, Overlord..." Joril uttered.
