Stories spread in the cities and towns throughout Rashemen of Shevel lying in ruins. As the story goes, told by the few who witnessed it themselves, two individuals with magic flowing out around them attacked the city from the south, blowing out its southern wall with fire. The mercenaries there were slaughtered, in addition to those who came from within the city limits to aid them.
As the pair marched their way into Shevel, the other Silver Sword Company mercenaries stood ready to fight, but backed off, knowing the battle was beyond them. The pair ordered all of Shevel's citizens in the streets to gather their things and leave immediately, and to inform their neighbors to do the same.
Panic quickly broke out in the city. Some attempted to drive out the pair, but found their magic able to destroy entire groups at a time. Magical fire began igniting buildings, but it was not until a pillar of flames caved in the inn, and the bathhouse caught fire from the inside, that a mad rush was made by the remaining population for the gates.
Those who were already in the distance report that the entire city, save for the warded southeast section, were on fire by the time the last of Shevel's citizens fled. Though smoke filled the sky above the city, it was invisible to neighboring settlements, as one of Shevel's usual storms had already darkened the sky by the time the smoke had grown high enough to alert others.
Refugees now have fled to local cities, and the nearby Fort Ryerlora, seeking shelter and a new place to live and work.
