Failure to Report Items that Appear in your Inventory without first being earned or with DM telling you why its there
If you obtain an item without earning it, as it just seemingly appears in your inventory, and a DM does not give you a reason why you earned it or why you have it, then report it. Failure to report will earn you a heavy XP hit the first time, any addition times you may be forced to retire the character or eventually banned from the module.
You will know if an item appears in your inventory normally, as a Yellow Message (system message) will appear.
Do pay attention to OOC shout messages from a DM, sometimes they will ask if a player has a specific item as due to a DM client bug with NPCs sometime items appear on PCs. Failing to inform a DM at this time about the item, will result in heavier penalty, as they will find it.

Do NOT sell Event items, DM made items, or any sort of items without the FULL attention of the DM who made them.
If someone hands you over an item, lets say to help you start, DO NOT sell them, first because its not your item, its someone elses, and second because it may be a DM made item. This is the only case I can currently think of that you would not be aware that the item was event made. So warn the player if the item is DM made and then ask the DM if you may sell it, and you can only sell it with the full DM atention.
In my opinion, its quite easy to see when an item is event made, due to heavy description, but whatever, ask first, ask again second, sell third. These items may be important for future plots, or could be responsible for new ones.
Selling an Event item will be penalized by XP and by Gold, and the item will remain lost.
